Thank you for downloading a demonstration module from HSD’s Essential Strips™ collection. You should be able to find other modules in this collection where you found this module. Essential Strips currently consists of:
“Essential Strips 2/95”:
Essential Alias™ 1.0
Essential Copy™ 1.0
Essential Move™ 1.0
Essential Modem™ 1.0
As these modules are updated and new modules are released, you should find them where you found these modules. Soon, Essential Alias, Copy, and Move will be merged into one module, Essential File™. Look for it. Also, Essential Strips will no longer be released as a package. It will be released one module at a time, so that HSD can be more responsive to its registered user base. Registered users will still be able to use all current and future modules in the Essential Strips collection.
About Essential Strips
Essential Strips is commercial software, not freeware or shareware. If you are not a registered user, the modules will operate in a “restricted” mode. The restricted mode should allow you to decide whether you want to become a registered user. Registration costs $24.95 (CA residents add sales tax; international surcharge applies) and entitles you to free online upgrades. In fact, registered users are able to use all current and future modules in the Essential Strips collection. When you register, a registration diskette will be mailed to you. The registration diskette installs personalized registration information on your computer. It also contains the latest versions of modules in the Essential Strips collection.
Requirements
Essential Strips requires:
System 7.5
Apple’s Control Strip or Men & Mice’s Desktop Strip
QuickDraw GX (for reading and printing documentation only)
Quick Start
1. Make sure you have System 7.5 and QuickDraw GX installed on your computer. The modules in the Essential Strips collection require System 7.5, which guarantees that certain system features are available. QuickDraw GX is needed only for reading documentation. Even if you do not have applications which use QuickDraw GX, HSD recommends installing it for the Desktop Printer and Portable Digital Documents feature.
2. Read and agree to the Portable Digital Document (PDD) “License Agreement” in the “Documentation ƒ” folder. Understand that you may distribute copies of this package, but that you may not distribute Registration Information provided to you by HSD when you register. PDDs can be viewed with SimpleText, or dragged to a desktop printer for immediate printing.
3. Copy the enclosed module into your “Control Strip Modules” folder in the system folder on your startup disk (if you are using Desktop Strip, please consult its documentation).
4. Restart your computer.
5. Read the tutorial file in the “Documentation ƒ” folder to learn how to use the module.
6. Register Essential Strips! It costs just $24.95 and entitles you to free online upgrades for the life of the product. Print the PDD file “Ordering Information”, fill it out, enclose a check, and send it.
Why?
•Why should I register? Registration gives you full functionality of this and all other current and future modules in the Essential Strips collection. What other software company gives you free upgrades?
• Why the Control Strip? The Control Strip allows instant access to powerful “everyday utility” functions with little memory overhead and minimal screen space requirements. Control Strip also promotes compatability. Essential Strips modules do not patch any traps to provide their functionality.
•Why PDDs? Portable Digital Documents (PDDs) allow HSD to ship formatted documentation with its products, while keeping the size of its (electronic) packages small. Most of our current registered customers have QuickDraw GX installed.
